Zero Waste Swaps I Use Every Single Day
Welcome to an eco day in my life where I highlight the eco swaps and habits I incorporate into my regular zero waste life. Let us know below your top low waste swaps!
Wake up:
Turn on my secondhand light
Brush my hair with a wooden brush that I get from Earth Hero
Apply some eco deodorant (currently using Meow Meow Tweet, but here are some other faves)
Add some eco sunscreen, my go-to is Babo Botanicals
Use the bathroom with bamboo or recycled toilet paper (currently using Reel) and my Whisper bidet (but Tushy is great, too)
Add some Plaine Products moisturizer
Walk Denahi & Let Mochi out:
The critters get lots of rewards from Shameless Pets treats
Our dog poop bags are made out of bioplastic that we get locally, but you can snag some from The Kind Pet
Every walk in the sun I wear my recycled prescription sunglasses from SOJOS
Breakfast:
Homemade sourdough in which I use King Arthur Flour
Tomatoes stored in reused sour cream containers
Accompanied by some locally grown fruit
Served on a Year and Day plate
Sometimes includes homemade coffee with my secondhand espresso machine
Locally made mugs
Fill up my reusable water bottle. I currently use Stanley as I got it as a Christmas gift, but Klean Kanteen is my fav
Get ready for the day:
Bamboo toothbrush that I get from Earth Hero
Eco toothpaste, we’re currently using Hello
Use a flat iron I already have to do my hair with an old claw clip
Makeup: Axiology, Zerra & Co, Fat and the Moon
Get to work:
Phone case: currently Pela, but I’m looking for better options
I use secondhand notebooks to plan my content
My secondhand iPad is used to make my thumbnails
Most of my camera gear is secondhand
I film in the window and use natural lighting
I listen to audiobooks via the Libby app while I edit. My AirPod case is also Pela
On my desk is also…
Reusable tissues from Boaty
Eco lip balm from Sustain Yourself
Lunch break:
Walk Denahi
Wash my hands with Blueland
Leftovers for lunch as I read a book that I get from
My local independent bookstore
Usually time to refill my water
Back to work:
Nothing extra to report here, just finishing up the day!
End of the day:
Walk Denahi
One of us makes dinner or we eat more leftovers
Dinner is prepared in Caraway pots and pans
We buy as much as we can locally to include our local bulk store
Served in locally made bowls
Leftovers are usually stored in Stojo, Stasher, Durbl, or Souper Cube containers
Evening hobbies:
Depending on the time of year, and my mood, is what hobby I do
Crochet with secondhand yarn or yarn made from textile waste. I also am a fan of Knit Picks and Darn Good Yarn for new yarns!
Play games on our secondhand Switch
Read more of my secondhand books from Thriftbooks
I’ve been getting into watercolors! I got my paints and brushes from A Dream or A Day Art, a small business, and my art book from Verdure
Get ready for bed:
Eco toothpaste, currently using Hello
Reusable floss pick from Webbers Nature Shop
Denahi also gets his teeth brushed with organic pet toothpaste from Grove, and he gets a reward of a Shameless Pets dental stick
Quince towels
Locally made body soap
Floofah loofah for shower exfoliation
Some dermaplaning with the Leaf Shave dermaplaner
In bed:
Our Buffy comforter had seen better days when I dyed it green to help it look freshened up
Our sheets are from Sheets & Giggles
Dan’s pillow is from Avocado Mattress
Our lamps are secondhand as is everything else in our bedroom, except my handmade blanket
We do some more reading before calling it a day
