Time for Eco-Friendly Spring Cleaning!
Happy Spring! Let’s get into some spring cleaning. These are the zero-waste swaps and habits I use when it comes to decluttering and cleaning my home.
Eco cleaning products
Soaps:
Blueland is my favorite brand of foaming hand soap refill tabs
Chagrin has a wide array of different soaps
No Tox Life makes a great, solid dish soap bar
Cleaners:

Cleaning tools
Floofah makes 100% natural and compostable sponges. They scrub well without being too abrasive!
Bamboo pot scrubber (options on Earth Hero)
Recycled aluminum scrubby from Feord. This works on the toughest messes, as seen here.
Bioplastic sponges (options on Earth Hero)
Swedish dish cloths (options on Earth Hero)
Bamboo brushes (options on Earth Hero)
Reusable rags. Use what you have for free! Otherwise, I highly recommend Marley’s Monsters for an “unpaper towel” or Quince for fancier kitchen towels.
Bioplastic trash bags from HoldOn
Recycled trash bags from Grove Collective
Bamboo paper towels for those messes that would be too much for reusables. I like Reel or Who Gives a Crap
Laundry
Eco laundry detergent. There are so many options out there! My absolute fav is Meliora, but you can check out more of my recs here.

Dryer balls. Get them on Earth Hero!
Hang dry items to make them last longer and conserve energy
Don’t wash items as frequently (of course, wash dirty items, I’m not an animal)
Try a Scrubba laundry bag to handwash delicate items or for use while traveling

A little goes a long way!

Reusable mop heads and Swiffer attachments
How to declutter sustainably
Now that your home and laundry are clean, what about all that stuff you want to get rid of? Let’s do some decluttering, but make it sustainable!
That means thinking before you throw away:
Can that item be mended or dyed so that you will like it more and keep it?
Can it be recycled or composted instead?
Is that item really nice and can be resold?
Is the item still in good condition and can be donated?
Could you save it for an upcycling craft?
There are so many ways to avoid the landfill, which is important as we run out of landfill space. Declutter, yes, just please don’t throw everything away!
